Our fantastic Y11 students wanted to raise money for Comic Relief by doing their own ‘Harlem Shake’ (search Youtube to view the dance that has gone viral worldwide).
Remember – we did it for fun to help a serious cause!
We had the pleasure of welcoming the Right Reverend Bishop Peter of Doncaster to Campsmount. Bishop Peter was very interested in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic Club, more specifically the high altitude weather balloon project.
The Bishop met with students and staff that have been involved in S.T.E.M at Campsmount both past and present. They explained to him what S.T.E.M means to them and how it has had a positive impact upon their time at Campsmount.
The visit has given us some great ideas on how we can move the project forward and how we can involve the wider community of Doncaster in it whilst doing good for others. The Bishop is keen to assist us in achieving this and has pledged his support to the project.
A special thanks must go to Mr. Matthew Lynds from Rejus for arranging the visit.
Also a big special WELL DONE to all the students who took part, simply superb conduct and it a pleasure to see students converse in such a mature and constructive manner.
Mr. S. P. Huntridge
The most exciting and entertaining evening at Campsmount is nearly here again. The Campsmount Dance Show is on the 20th March 2013 and this year for the first time is in the main hall with the brand new sound and lighting we have had installed.
The students have been working extra hard to make sure the show is better than ever so make sure you get your tickets early to avoid disappointment. This is a ticket only event and they must be purchased in advance and are not available on the door.
the tickets for the dance show will go on sale from this Wednesday 27th February from lunch time.
These will be available from Miss Lindley (Mon, Thurs and Fri) and Mrs Knowland (Tues and Wed) during LUNCH TIMES only in the PE OFFICE. They are £3.00 each.
Here is last years show to give you a taste of what is to come:
S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Club at Campsmount is this year aiming higher than ever. We are hoping to launch another weather balloon to over 100,000ft and get some fantastic video.
Other plans are to get a live video feed as it goes up into the Stratosphere and in the future launch an unmanned drone from 50,000ft to return to home.
If you want to be part of S.T.E.M at Campsmount we will be now running evening sessions in R4 and the workshops from 3:10-4:10pm on a Thursday.
We have some great support from Sheffield Hallam University, Rejus Facilities Management and the Bishop of Doncaster.
You can follow the project on our Blog: http://campsmountinspace.blogspot.co.uk/
