Examples of Jing usage

December 11, 2011 in Jing, Staff, T&L Blog by Mr King

Here are a couple of examples of how we’ve used Jing to create instructional videos for our students to use as a resource to recap on skills they’ve been taught. Not quite TV presenter standard yet but ‘practice makes perfect!”

What is a QR Code?

A quick response (QR) code is a two dimension bar code (see above) that can be read on devices such as a mobile device (camera phone) or a laptop computer which, once accessed, will allow you to complete an action. For instance, reading some text, accessing a web site or texting a number.

A useful way of thinking of QR codes is that they link the physical world (the poster, print out, room, or physical object) to the electronic (web resource, text information) or facilitating communication (SMS message, phone call). This adds value through improving the potential of making access to information more efficient and effective.

What tasks can be completed through a QR code?

Google Books

March 2, 2011 in Google Docs, Learning Technology, T&L Blog by Mr ap Harri

There are millions (MILLIONS) of books available through Google Books.

We can access them by logging into our website, and clicking on Google Books, under Cloud Apps. Click on “My Library” in the top right corner and you will either go straight to your account if you’ve already visited Google Docs, or you’ll be prompted to log in using your Google Account.

Your Google Account is username@campsmount.com and the same password.

You’ll now be able to search the millions of books and add them to your library.

Be warned though, a lot are just free previews, so try and find the Full View ones. You can filter your search to only include Full View books by clicking on “Advanced Book Search”

You can build your virtual library up, to read them whenever you want, wherever you want.

Most of the classics are there and free to read and add to your library.

For instance, here is a full version of Romeo and Juliet…
