ICT Students visit Local Photographer

July 1, 2011 in Community, Front Page News, ICT, Students, Uncategorized by Mr King

Askern StudioThis week A-Level ICT students from Campsmount visited a local professional photographer, Derek Collins. Derek invited them to his photography studio near Askern lake where he explained and demonstrated how the studio works.  The students then took photos and learned how the differing  lighting arrangements affects the exposure of the subject etc.  This was a fantastic opportunity for our students, not only to get tuition from a professional but also to work in a professional environment with professional equipment.  We would like to thank Derek for working with our students and giving them this unique opportunity.

Leadership Academy Update

January 27, 2011 in Uncategorized by C Knowland

In September 2010, the application process commenced for new students to apply to become members of the Campsmount Leadership Academy. New Co-ordinators were appointed and both of these students assisted with the interview process. By the end of September, we had 30 students enrolled into the Academy, consisting of some previous members who had stayed on to study at school and new members in Year 10, 11, 12 & 13.

As part of being a member of the Campsmount Academy, those students who are 16 years old have also had the opportunity to apply to be members of the Doncaster Leadership Academy, I am pleased to announce that 4 of our students Georgina Burtoft, Tom Gabbitass, Josh Gilies and Lauren Wright have all been successfully appointed as members and over the course of the next year they will be completing training in a whole host of different awards and training courses.

On top of this the school were successful in receiving a grant from the Youth Bank Trust on rewarding our students for their hard work and dedication to the scheme and over the course of the next year, we will be paying for all of our members to attend various coaching qualification courses. As well, as looking into setting up “In House” Child Protection and First Aid Training, as part of the scheme.

The next stage for us is to order all new kit for academy members and look at upskilling our students with using the Realsmart package to record and monitor the Leadership and Volunteering that they do out in the community.

An exciting time for this project……..
