Year 10 Work Experience – 5th July – 16th July 2010

Campsmount have recently worked in partnership with Business Education South Yorkshire (BESY) to provide a work experience programme, which took place over a 2-week period from Monday 5th July until Friday 16th July.

This rewarding experience aimed to give students a realistic insight into the type of work or activity in which they are interested.  It also helped them put into practice the skills they have learned at School and prepare them for the World of Work. It also helped them understand the disciplines and relationships involved in a working situation.

The Work Experience also contributed to a large part of the BTEC Diploma in Work Skills, which every student will hopefully gain by the end of year 11.

We encouraged students to find their own work placement using business contacts through family or friends or approaching a company or business that they are interested in. Nearly two-thirds of the year group achieved this. The remainder were placed by BESY to match their work interests.

I must congratulate the year group on their organised and mature approach prior to the placements and an even more impressive attitude and conduct during the placements. You are a credit to the college and yourselves.

The success of Work Placement of course depends very much on the goodwill and   co-operation of employers and the School staff who are involved in making the arrangements. My thanks goes out to all involved in making this crucial experience happen.
