Campsmount Academy

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Many thanks to Rejus, Doncaster for sponsoring all year 9 students to undertake their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

What is the Duke of Edinburgh Award?

Campsmount Academy offers pupils from Year 9 onwards an exciting opportunity to participate in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme.

To achieve each Award pupils must complete a programme of activities in four or five sections that involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity.

Students keep track of the progress on the electronic system available through the Duke of Edinburgh website www.dofe.org

The Duke of Edinburgh Awards are renowned by employers and universities alike for the qualities available to young people outside of their academic studies.

Duke of Edinburgh is on in Campsmount each Thursday 6pm to 7:30pm. If any Year 9 and above students want to join please just turn up to the meetings, which take place in our Post 16 area.

Each award will require the student to complete the following for their expedition:

  • One weekend training day
  • One full training weekend
  • One full weekend practice
  • One full weekend assessment

The training will cover map reading, compass skills, camp craft, cooking in the outdoors, First Aid and The Country Code.
