Good news for two Doncaster students who have rowed their way to victory in a double scull competition on the River Tees.
Milly Barnes, student at Campsmount Academy, and her rowing double’s partner Casey Green, a student from Ridgewood school, fought off fierce opposition in Yarm, Teeside, on Saturday 9th March to win a chance to represent Yorkshire.
Milly, who has been rowing for 3 years having been inspired to take up the sport when watching the 2016 Olympics, said “we were ecstatic to win. We have been rowing together as part of a coxless quad and double team for just under 2 years. We’re both really looking forward to competing again in April and intend on working extremely hard to make our mark against some of the most strongest crews in the country."
Both ladies, who are members of Doncaster Rowing Club, will now go on to represent their county in the Junior Inter Regional Regatta competition which takes place at Peterborough City Rowing Club in April.
Good luck to them.
Unfortunately the April regatta was cancelled due to adverse weather.
